The Blazeman

January 4, 2008 · 2 Comments

OK, serious post today.  This video, produced by NBC Sports, profiles the amazing story of Jon Blais at the 2005 Ironman Competition in Kona. Jon did the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mike bike and 26.2 mile run in under 17 hours. That alone is amazing. But Jon did it while suffering from ALS–Lou Gherig’s disease. He said he was going to complete that race under his own power or they would have to roll him across the finish line.   His story inspired me to learn more about him, his family and ALS. Today, I am proud to volunteer for a not-for-profit he founded. Click here to learn more and see other videos that NBC produced about him and others who’ve raced in his memory over the past several years. It’s a powerful story that’s reached millions and inspired thousands of others to “unleash themselves upon the world and go places.” How will it inspire you?
